It's time for another employee profile with our most successful employees that have worked onboard and completed their 12 week run. We recently spoke to Makayla Meisel from Orlando, Florida. She spoke to us by phone about her experience working onboard the American Glory & Independence.
WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO APPLY FOR THE JOB WITH ACL?
Well, I have some friends who have worked in the cruise industry before so when I was researching different cruise companies I found that this one had all the aspects I was looking for so it turned out to be the best option for me.
WHAT DID YOU REALLY LIKE ABOUT THE POSITION?
Pros: I really liked that there was a lot of traveling involved and the relationships that the Stewards were able to build within the 12 weeks was really cool. Con: the hours were long.
WHAT ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY MADE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE OF A STEWARD ONBOARD?
I defintely feel like my personality definitely fit with the rigors of the job. I adjust easily to new situations and having to wake up every single day on the ship. I'm very adaptable.
DID YOU LIKE THE LIVING QUARTERS?
I liked it, there was plenty of space (and storage space). On the Glory there was only a few of us girls so it made it enjoyable.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS?
Make sure you can commit yourself to this job. Put all your focus on it, don't look too far ahead and enjoy the experience. Thats my advice for anyone considering a job onboard.
Thanks Makayla, we're sure glad to have hired you!
