Employee Spotlight with Amanda Ramos, Steward

From time to time we like to profile our most successful employees that have passed through our doors. Last week we spoke to Amanda Ramos of Oregon. She spoke to us by phone about her experience on board. Amanda spent 12 weeks at ACL working aboard the Independence.

How was your overall experience working with ACL?

I loved it, I have to say it was one of the best experiences of my life. There were times when it wasn't easy but i still loved it.

What were some of the highlights for you?

Working with the guests, they were amazing. And the experience I gained was great as well. The people that I met, the crew, I built many relationships with them including the managers.

What Cities Did You Travel to?

I did all the way from Jacksonville Florida to Bar Harbor Maine.

How often did you get off the boat to explore?

Everyday unless we were underway. We got them typically like 2-3 hours at a time after lunch.

How were your crew quarters?

There were 9 other girls on our crew and other than the fact that we had to share a bathroom it worked out just fine. We got along well. It was spacious.

What advice would you give to others who are thinking about working for us on board?

I'd say you need to have a thick skin. The managers will tell you when you've done something wrong. So its important that you can take direction well. Prepare yourself for working long hours but its worth it to travel and see the country.
